Gene Information

human ... PRKCA(5578)

General description

Anti-PKC α Antibody detects endogenous levels of total PKC α protein.
PKC α (protein kinase C α) gene is mapped to 17q24.2. PKC α is expressed in heart, liver, brain and epithelium.

Immunogen

The antiserum was produced against synthesized peptide derived from human PKC alpha.

Immunogen Range: 606-655

Biochem/physiol Actions

PKC (protein kinase C) is known to mediate different cellular processes, such as transcription regulation, cell signaling, cell proliferation, immune responses and apoptosis. While PKC is also associated with the learning ability. Abnormal cell signaling induced by PKC is often observed in cancer. PKC α (protein kinase C α) being one of the isozymes of the PKC family, it catalyzes the phosphorylation of substrates with many peptides.
