General description
Calcium methoxide is an alkaline earth metal compound that can be used as a calcium catalyst. It is a solid base catalyst that shows excellent catalytic activity and stability. It can be synthesized by reacting calcined calcium carbonate with methanol reflux under a nitrogen flow.
Application
Calcium methoxide can be used as a catalyst in the transesterification of oil to produce biodiesel.
