General description

Potassium hydroxide (KOH) is also known as caustic potash. It is a strong alkali or a solid base compound that can be used in a variety of industrial applications. It finds its usage in the production of soaps, cleaners and detergents.

Application

  • Biodiesel Production from Waste Cooking Oil: Describes the use of potassium hydroxide in biodiesel production, emphasizing its effectiveness in catalyzing the transesterification of waste cooking oil (K Komaladevi, R Pandithurai, 2023).
  • Chemical Activation for Dye Adsorption: Utilizes potassium hydroxide in the activation process to enhance the adsorption capacity of hemp-based activated carbon, crucial for environmental cleanup and management (Y Toptaş, B Yavuz, A Aksoğan Korkmaz, et al., 2024).
  • Surface Modification of Raphia Fibres: Highlights the use of potassium hydroxide for the chemical modification of Raphia fibres to improve their mechanical properties and water absorption, relevant in textile and material engineering (I Omemereyore, OT Uzoma, et al., 2024).
  • High-Performance Supercapacitors: Discusses the role of potassium hydroxide in enhancing the charge storage performance of electrodes, critical for the development of advanced energy storage systems (Y Pei, Z Ren, X Wu, et al., 2024).
