Gly-Arg-Gly-Asp-Ser-Pro

General description

Gly-Arg-Gly-Asp-Ser-Pro (GRGDSP) is a bioactive molecule/peptide derived from fibronectin.

Application

Gly-Arg-Gly-Asp-Ser-Pro (GRGDSP) has been used:
  • in coating well plate to monitor cell attachment by crystal violet staining
  • to treat baby hamster kidney (BHK-21) cells to study the role of Arg-Gly-Asp (RGD) motif in the replication of Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV)
  • to block RGD-dependent integrins or integrin signaling in INA-6 cells
  • to study the role of the RGD-binding integrins in Gal-3-mediated cell adhesion

Biochem/physiol Actions

Gly-Arg-Gly-Asp-Ser-Pro (GRGDSP) can stimulate endothelialization by modifying the surface of cardiovascular implants. The major cell- binding domain of GRGDSP helps to promote cell adhesion on a wide range of substrates.
Gly-Arg-Gly-Asp-Ser-Pro (GRGDSP) is used as a soluble integrin-blocking RGD-based peptide. GRGDSP is used widely together with other RGD peptides in integrin research.

Vascular endothelium plays an important role in preventing thrombogenesis. Bioactive molecules such as fibronectin-derived peptide Gly-Arg-Gly-Asp-Ser-Pro (GRGDSP) can be used to modify the surface of cardiovascular implants such as vascular grafts to promote endothelialization. Here we conjugated GRGDSP peptide to
