3,3′-Dioctadecyloxacarbocyanine perchlorate has been used for lipid bilayer labeling in antigen-presenting cells. It has also been used as a lipophilic dye for labeling in zebrafish embryos.[1]

3,3′-Dioctadecyloxacarbocyanine perchlorate is a fluorescent probe of lipid bilayer model membranes.[2] It is a fluorescent marker for living cells in culture.[3]
