General description

Ammonium bicarbonate is bicarbonate salt of the ammonium ion. In addition to being a source of ammonia, it is also commonly used as a mild base. Bicarbonate of ammonia appears as granular crystals and is easily soluble in water. In the synthesis of catalysts, ammonium bicarbonate is used.

Application

Ammonium bicarbonate is used:
  • As a mineral fuel to prepare alumina-zirconia nano powders by sol-gel combustion.
  • Precipitating agent in the synthesis of γ-Al2O3 sample (γ-Al2O3-1), that is used for the removal of fluoride from aqueous solution.
