General description

Compatible with 50 mL centrifuge tubes, Steriflip® filters eliminate the liquid transfer step by integrating directly into the sample tube. To filter, attach the unit to the 50 mL centrifuge tube containing your sample, flip, and apply vacuum. The filtrate collects directly into the attached 50 mL tube.

This Steriflip® 0.22 μm pore size polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) membrane filter unit combines a 50 mL centrifuge tube with a cap for processing and storage.

Application

For Research Use Only

Steriflip® filters are designed to be used for sterile vacuum filtration of aqueous solutions such as tissue culture media and biological fluids.
  • Tissue culture media +/- additives
  • Buffers
  • Biological solutions
Steriflip® filters have been used:
  • in the preparation of antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs)
  • to sterilize bovine serum albumin (BSA), papain, dispase, and DNase mix and glucose solution for tissue culture
  • to filter clarified supernatant in human immunodeficiency virus (HIV-1) fusion assay

Features and Benefits

  • Eliminates messy sample transfer via a simple vacuum-assisted, closed system
  • Can isolate cells from cellular debris using any of the various pore-sized nylon net filters
  • Ideal for sterilizing small batches of culture media
  • Attaches to any standard 50 mL centrifuge tube, eliminating unnecessary materials, time and risk of spillage

The HIV-1 fusion assay measures all steps in the HIV-1 life cycle up to and including viral fusion. It relies on the incorporation of a β-lactamase Vpr (BlaM-Vpr) protein chimera into the virion and the subsequent transfer of this chimera

Proteins of the BCL-2 family are evolutionarily conserved modulators of apoptosis that function as sensors of cellular integrity. Over the past three decades multiple BCL-2 family members have been identified, many of which are now fully incorporated into regulatory networks
