Potassium methoxide can be used:
- As a methoxylating agent for methoxylation of bromo- and mesyloxyalkanes in the presence of an ionic liquid [bmim][BF4].[3]
- As a catalyst for the synthesis of dimethyl carbonate[4] and methyl formate.[5]
- As a catalyst for the transesterification of sunflower oil for the production of biodiesel.[6]
