Application

Urocortin human can be used as a test compound for studying the impact of corticotropin-releasing factor (CRF) receptor agonist and antagonist on sleep-wake patterns in conscious rats by using radiotelemetry system.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Binds to CRF receptor types 1, 2α, and 2β; stimulates cAMP accumulation from cells transfected with these receptors. Acts in vitro to release ACTH from rat anterior pituitary cells.
Urocortin is a CRF-related neuropeptide having high affinity for CRF2 receptor possess appetite-suppressing effect. Urocortin along with corticotropin-releasing factor (CRF) binding protein (CRF-BP) enhances the free CRF levels in human brain by displacing hCRF from the binding protein.

Stress has been known to release corticotropin-releasing factor (CRF) and have an affect on sleep-wake patterns. However, there is no direct evidence of CRF receptor agonist and antagonist on sleep-wake patterns. Therefore, this study aimed to clarify this point by

Here we demonstrate that urocortin, a new mammalian member of the corticotropin-releasing factor (CRF) neuropeptide family has high affinity for both the recombinant human CRF binding protein (CRF-BP) and for a membrane-associated form of the protein solubilized from postmortem human

The neuropeptide corticotropin-releasing factor (CRF) is well known to act on the central nervous system in ways that mimic stress and result in decreases in exploration, increases in sympathetic activity, decreases in parasympathetic outflow, and decreases in appetitive behavior. Urocortin

Urocortin exerts neuroprotective effects in intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) of rats. For pre-clinical trial, we intended to study the neuroprotective efficacy of human UCN (hUCN)-1, -2 and -3 in treating ICH rats. ICH was induced by infusing bacterial collagenase VII (0.23
