Gene Information

human ... FOXO1(2308)

General description

FOXO1 (forkhead box O1) is encoded by the gene mapped to human chromosome 13q14. The encoded protein is a transcription factor and is a member of the Foxo subfamily.

Immunogen

Peptide sequence around phosphorylation site of serine 256 (A-A-S(p)-M-D), according to the protein FOXO1.

Application

Anti-phospho-FOXO1 (pSer256) antibody produced in rabbit has been used in western blotting.

Biochem/physiol Actions

FOXO1 (forkhead box O1) blocks the differentiation of cell in fetal pancreatic progenitor cells. It controls the differentiation of adipocytes. FOXO1 is involved in the insulin regulation of glucose-6-phosphatase (G6p) expression. Additionally, this protein plays a vital role in tumor suppression by inducing growth arrest and apoptosis.
