Beta Defensin-3 is a novel 5 kDa nonhemolytic antimicrobial protein peptide which may be important in the innate epithelial defense of infections by various microorganisms seen in skin and lung (such as cystic fibrosis).
Specificity
Recognizes the 5-6 kDa human Defensin-3, beta protein.
Immunogen
A synthetic peptide consisting of amino acids 23-33 [GIINTLQKYYC] of the human beta-defensin-3 protein.
Application
Anti-Defensin Antibody, β3 is an antibody against Defensin for use in ELISA & WB.

Western blotting: Tricine-SDS- PAGE gels recommended: 1:500-1:1,000, migrates as a 5-6kDa band; Tricine-SDS-urea PAGE gels: Native Beta Defensin 3 migrates as a 9kDa band; the larger size is because of the reduction of the three cysteine bridges present in the peptide protein
Optimal working dilutions must be determined by the end user.

Defensins are generally implicated in the quick resistance of epithelial surfaces to microbials; however, recent reports have indicated that defensins also have unknown purposes in relation to noninfectious diseases. In this study, the localization patterns of anti-microbial peptides, β defensins
