General description

Phalloidin Atto 488is a hydrophilic fluorescent label with high water solubility. Post coupling to a substrate, the fluorescent label carries a net electrical charge of -1. The fluorescence activity is excited efficiently at the 480-515nm range. A suitable excitation source for Phalloidin Atto 488 is the 488 nm line of the Argon-Ion laser.

Application

Phalloidin Atto 488 is used for labeling F-actin in fixed cells since the binding nature is like natural phallacidin. Phalloidin conjugates identify and quantify F-actin in tissues, cell cultures, or cell-free preparations. Since fluorescent Phalloidin Atto 488 conjugates are non-permeable to live cells, it is suitable to identify cells with compromised membranes.

Features and Benefits

Characteristic features of the Phalloidin Atto 488 are:
  • Strong Absorption.
  • High Fluorescence quantum yield.
  • High Photostability.
  • Minimal Triplet formation.
