General description

Sodium hexafluorophosphate is a white powder and is soluble in water and polar organic solvents, including many of the carbonates and ethers commonly used in liquid battery electrolytes. Our battery grade NaPF6 meets both high level of purity and low moisture to ensure reliable and consistent performance for battery research.
We are committed to bringing you Greener Alternative Products, which adhere to one or more of The 12 Principles of Greener Chemistry. This product has been enhanced for energy efficiency. Click here for more information.

Application

Battery grade sodium hexafluorophosphate (NaPF6) is a reliable precursor salt for sodium ion batteries (NIBs). NaPF6 is commonly used as the source of sodium ions in liquid electrolytes due to its excellent properties including high solubility in organic solvents, high anodic electrochemical stability, and ability to form fluoride-rich solid electrolyte interphases (SEI) Often NaPF6 is used in research to design electrolytes that enhance the energy/power density or cycle life of sodium-ion batteries. For example, studies have shown that NaPF6-based electrolytes often offer the best performance, especially in conjunction with additives like FEC Additionally, NaPF6 is widely used because it is compatible with most battery materials including sodium metal, hard carbon, most oxide and phosphate cathode materials, as well as copper and aluminum current collectors. As a result, NaPF6-based electrolytes are the go-to for sodium-ion battery research and development.
