Application
Urocortin III human can be used as a test compound for studying the impacts of melanocortin agonist on in vitro α-subunit secretion.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Urocortin III belongs to corticotropin-releasing hormone family with high affinity for the type 2 corticotropin-releasing factor (CRFR2) receptor. It stimulates insulin and glucagon secretion.Urocortin III also possesses cardioprotective property and has minimal impact on the hypothalamic stress axis. It is, therefore, utilized for treating ischemic heart disease.

Corticotropin-releasing factor (CRF) receptor type 2beta (CRFR2beta) is expressed in the heart. Urocortin (Ucn)-I activation of CRFR2beta is cardioprotective against ischemic reperfusion (I/R) injury by stimulation of the ERKs1/2 p42, 44. However, by binding CRF receptor type 1, Ucn-I can

Urocortin (Ucn) III, or stresscopin, is a high affinity ligand for the type 2 corticotropin-releasing factor (CRFR2) receptor recently identified in rodents and human. Ucn III was initially identified as a neuropeptide expressed in discrete areas in the brain. In

CRH is known as the main stimulator of ACTH release. In representatives of all nonmammalian vertebrates, CRH has also been shown to induce TSH secretion, acting directly at the level of the pituitary. We have investigated which cell types and

Urocortin exerts neuroprotective effects in intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) of rats. For pre-clinical trial, we intended to study the neuroprotective efficacy of human UCN (hUCN)-1, -2 and -3 in treating ICH rats. ICH was induced by infusing bacterial collagenase VII (0.23
