Biochem/physiol Actions
IL-21 (interleukin-21) belongs to the IL-2 cytokine family. It is secreted by CD4+ T, natural killer (NK) and Th17 cells. IL-21 associates with IL-21 receptor and participates in B-cell proliferation, differentiation as well as apoptosis. It also promotes the cytotoxic activity of CD8+ T cells and natural killer cells.IL-21 plays a crucial role in the differentiation of follicular helper T cells. It also exhibits antitumor activity. It is also involved in the activation of JAK-STAT (Janus kinase - signal transducer and activator of transcription), PI3K (phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase) and MAPK (mitogen activated protein kinase) pathways.
IL-21 and its receptor have important roles in T and B cell proliferation and natural killer cell maturation. Human and mouse IL-21 share 57% amino acid identity.
Physical form
Lyophilized from a 0.2 μm filtered solution in phosphate buffered saline containing 0.5 mg bovine serum albumin.
Analysis Note
The biological activity is measured by its ability to induce proliferation of human N1186 T cells.

Passive transfer of antibodies not only provides immediate short-term protection against disease, but also can be exploited as a therapeutic tool. However, the 'humanization' of murine monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) is a time-consuming and expensive process that has the inherent drawback

Mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) is a distinct subtype of non-Hodgkin lymphoma characterized by overexpression of cyclin D1 in 95% of patients. MCL patients experience frequent relapses resulting in median survival of 3 to 5 years, requiring more efficient therapeutic regimens.

Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is the most common subtype of malignant lymphoma; it derives from germinal center B cells. Although DLBCL harbors many genetic alterations, synergistic roles between such alterations in the development of lymphoma are largely undefined. We

Interleukin-21 (IL-21) has been implicated in the development of Th2-mediated immune responses; however, the exact role it plays in allergic diseases is not well understood. To elucidate the contribution of IL-21 receptor signalling to Th2-dependent immune responses in the lung.

The B cell lymphoma-6 (Bcl-6) and Bcl-xL proteins are expressed in germinal center B cells and enable them to endure the proliferative and mutagenic environment of the germinal center. By introducing these genes into peripheral blood memory B cells and
