General description

Benzo[a]pyrene belongs to the class of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, which can exist as a potent genotoxic compound majorly formed via pyrolysis of organic matter and can also be found in industrial and cigarette smoke, coal tar and food.

Application

Benzo[a]pyrene may be used as an analytical standard for the determination of the analyte in olive oil, smoked and cooked food and roasted coffee samples by chromatography techniques.
