Gene Information

human ... LTBP1(4052)

General description

Human TGFβ1 (GenBank Accession No. NM_000660), amino acids 30-390 (end) with Cys33Ser mutation and N-terminal His-tag, disulfide-linked homodimers of TGFβ1 LAP and mature TGFβ1, MW= ~75kDa and 25kDa, under non-reducing conditions.
LTBP1 (latent transforming growth factor β binding protein 1) belongs to the LTBP family of proteins. The protein has 18 epidermal growth factor (EGF)-like repeats and four LTBP-like repeats. The gene is mapped to human chromosome 2p22.3.

Application

Useful for cell culture and for the study of signaling and apoptotic pathways.

Biochem/physiol Actions

LTBP1 (latent transforming growth factor β binding protein 1) is an extracellular matrix protein which also controls TGF-β (transforming growth factor β) bioavailability. LTBP1 is mainly responsible for the folding and secretion of TGF-β, thereby adding it to the extracellular matrix. It is a target of HTRA1 (high temperature requirement protein A1), a serine protease involved in cellular signaling.

Physical form

Lyophilized from a 0.2 μM filtered, aqueous solution.

Reconstitution

Reconstitute in sterile PBS with 0.1% BSA. Stability: >6 months at –70°C (as a solid). Store reconstituted protein in aliquots at –80°C for up to 3 months. Avoid freeze/thaw cycles.
