General description

L-Ascorbic acid or vitamin C is a water-soluble vitamin found in various foodstuffs. The benefits of vitamin C may include protection against immune system deficiencies, cardiovascular disease, hyperpigmentation treatment, skin protection, anti-aging, iron absorption, and RBC production. It is used to treat scurvy and also functions as an antioxidant. Vitamin C is useful in the biosynthesis of collagen, L-carnitine, and neurotransmitters.
L-Ascorbic acid-13C6 ([13C6]-L-ascorbic acid) is an isotope of vitamin C wherein all the carbon atoms of ascorbic acid are replaced by 13C6 carbon.

Application

L-Ascorbic acid-13C6 can be used as a stable isotope internal standard for accurate data interpretation in specific biological samples by LC-MS/MS.
