Application

Biotin-4-Fluorescein has been used for the labeling of avidin to study the changes in protein binding capability after carbon negative-ion implantation into avidin. It has been used to study the binding affinity of streptavidin towards biotin.
Useful for quantitating biotin binding sites. This reagent binds to avidin more quickly than conventional fluorescein biotin.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Biotin-fluorescein is mainly used for the assay of biotin-interaction sites in avidin and streptavidin. Binding of biotin-4-fluorescein results in strong quenching, which is used for measuring the concentration of (strept)avidin.
