General description

Domiphen bromide (DMP) is a quaternary ammonium compound that belongs to the class of phenol ethers. It can be used as a cationic surfactant.

Application

  • Domiphen Bromide in Antimicrobial Applications: A clinical trial assessed the effectiveness of a mouthwash containing Domiphen Bromide among other quaternary ammonium compounds, showcasing its ability to significantly reduce gingivitis, supporting its use in dental health products (Rosa and Sturzenberger, 1976).
  • Toxicity and Safety Profile of Domiphen Bromide: A recent study explored the proarrhythmic effects induced by Domiphen Bromide in both in vitro and in vivo models, providing vital safety information crucial for its use in pharmaceutical applications (Long et al., 2021).
