General description

Anti-GFAP Antibody detects endogenous levels of total GFAP protein.
Glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) is an intermediate-filament protein found in the astrocytes of CNS (central nervous system). It is located on human chromosome 17q21.

Immunogen

The antiserum was produced against synthesized peptide derived from human GFAP.

Immunogen Range: 11-60

Application

Anti-GFAP, N-Terminal antibody has been used in immunocytochemical analysis , confocal and fluorescent microscopic imaging , immunostaining and western blotting.
Applications in which this antibody has been used successfully, and the associated peer-reviewed papers, are given below.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) regulates intermediate filament network dynamics, cell morphology and focal adhesions. It helps in maintaining myelination and stability of CNS (central nervous system) white matter architecture.
