Gene Information

mouse ... Klf2(16598)

General description

Krueppel-like factor 2 (Klf2) is a novel protein belonging to the KLF family of transcription factors, a subfamily of approximately 20 members characterized by their possession of a zinc-finger domain and functioning as transcriptional regulators for cellular differentiation and growth. Klf2 activates transcription through its binding of the beta-globin gene promoter CACCC box. Studies have shown Klf2 to have critical roles in both the function and differentiation of several cell types including; adipocytes, lung cells, T lymphocytes, and monocytes. It has also been newly identified as an endothelial transcription regulator for pro-inflammatory activation, and is a requirement for the migration of smooth muscle cells and normal vessel formation. Shear stress and pro-inflammatory cytokines are considered to be potent inhibitors of Klf2. Expression is primarily observed in lung and spleen tissue, but it has also been found in aortic tissue.

Immunogen

Epitope: Unknown
GST-fusion protein with histidine-tagged mouse Klf2.

Application

Chromatin Immunoprecipitation Analysis: 5 µL from a representative lot immunoprecipitated Klf2 from 2 x 10E6 to 1 x 10E7 mouse embryonic stem cells. (Huck Ng, Genome Institute of Singapore.)

Use Anti-Klf2 Antibody (Rabbit Polyclonal Antibody) validated in WB to detect Klf2 also known as Kruppel-like factor 2 (lung), Lung krueppel-like factor.

Quality

Evaluated by Western Blot in mouse embryonic stem cell chromatin extract.

Western Blot Analysis: A 1:1,000 dilution of this antibody detected Klf2 in 10 µg of mouse embryonic stem cell chromatin extract.

Target description

~40 kDa observed

Physical form

Rabbit polyclonal serum containing 0.05% sodium azide.
Unpurified

Storage and Stability

Stable for 1 year at -20°C from date of receipt.
Handling Recommendations: Upon receipt and prior to removing the cap, centrifuge the vial and gently mix the solution. Aliquot into microcentrifuge tubes and store at -20°C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles, which may damage IgG and affect product performance.
