General description

Muramic acid is a marker for Gram-positive bacteria.

Application

Muramic acid has been used in a study to examine the association of house dust microbial content with cytokine-producing capacity at birth and at 1 year of age. It has also been used in studies to investigate novel bacteria strains isolated from air and soil samples collected from Korea and Thailand.
