General description

N,N-Dimethyldodecylamine N-oxide (DDAO), an amphoteric surfactant, is nonionic at high pH. The surfactant headgroup of amphoteric surfactants may carry positive and negative charges as the net charge is pH sensitive.

Application

N,N-Dimethyldodecylamine N-oxide solution has been used:
  • to examine the individual components of solvable for the extraction of few-layer graphene (FLG)and graphene oxide (GO) from complex organic matrices
  • as a component of wash buffer, elution buffer, and anion loading buffer for the purification of the double mutant reaction centers (DM RCs)
  • in the extraction of bilirubin and biliverdin by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC)

Biochem/physiol Actions

N,N-Dimethyldodecylamine N-oxide (DDAO) is preferred for protein studies. It is also frequently utilized for the extraction of membrane proteins.
