Cell Line Description
Recloned from J774.1 original ascites and solid tumour. Produces IL-1. Cell line J774.2 was recloned from the original ascites and solid tumor J774.1, and produces interleukin-1 (IL-1).
Application
J774.2 Cell Line from mouse has been used:
- to study the effect of the growth hormone secretagogue peptide A233 on J774.2 cell line
- to study the ability of Mycobacterium tuberculosis clinical isolates to penetrate and grow inside the J774.2 cell line
- to study the effect of ivy leaf dry extract EA 575 on the lipopolysaccharide-induced release of interleukin-6 (IL-6) from J774.2 cell line
Culture Medium
DMEM + 2mM Glutamine + 10% Foetal Bovine Serum (FBS).
Subculture Routine
Maintain cultures between 3-9x100,000 cells/ml; 5% CO2; 37°C. Cells are semi-adherent i.e. some cells grow in suspension , some loosely attach to the surface and others flattened out and attach to the flask. They should be passaged by scraping. Cells should not be allowed to overgrow and become confluent as this can lead to a loss of the flattened adherent cell characteristic.
