General description

Pentane (n-pentane) is a hydrocarbon. Its hydroisomerization using a nanocrystalline beta (BEA) zeolite has been proposed. It has been reported as one of the products formed from the peroxidation of unsaturated fatty acid.

Application

  • Catalytic Cracking to Light Olefins: Pentane is extensively used in studies focused on catalytic cracking processes. Recent research has explored the use of extra-framework aluminum in ZSM-5 zeolites to enhance the production of light olefins from pentane. This application is crucial for improving the efficiency of catalytic processes and the production of valuable petrochemical feedstocks (He et al., Journal of Analytical and Applied Pyrolysis, 2022).
