General description

O-(2-Mercaptoethyl)-O′-methyl-hexa(ethylene glycol), also known as mPEG thiol, is widely used in the synthesis of hydrogels and surface modification of nanoparticles.[1][2]

Application

O-(2-Mercaptoethyl)-O′-methyl-hexa(ethylene glycol) can be used :
  • in PEGylation reaction to form a self-assembled monolayer (SAM) on gold electrodes[1]
  • as a cross linking reagent in the preparation of alginate-based hydrogel system via photoinitiated thiol-ene reaction[2]
