General description

Platinum(Pt) is a dense, malleable, and ductile silver-white noble transition metal inthe platinum group. It has a high density of 21.45 g/cm³ and a melting point of1772 °C, and it often forms as foil. Platinum is renowned for its exceptionalresistance to corrosion and oxidation, making it highly valuable in variousindustrial applications. Platinum exhibits strong catalytic properties and iswidely used in applications such as electrical equipment, dental materials,implanted medical devices, and automobile catalysts. Additionally, it isextensively employed in the preparation of diverse heterogeneous platinumcatalysts for various organic transformations.
