Cadaver dogs are trained on a variety of materials, including artificial or pseudo scents. The chemical components of commercially available pseudo scents are not known, so their accuracy as a decomposition odour mimic and their effectiveness as a canine training

Questions

1–2 of 2 Questions
  1. The article on the website (Analysis of synthetic canine training ...) indicates that commercially available pseudo scents are not reliable - compounds identified as not volatile products of decomposition). Does this apply to Sigma Pseudo Corpse Scent?

    1 answer
    1. The Sigma Pseudo™ Scents are canine training aids. They do not contain the actual components of the product title focus. In the case of the Corpse Scent, the mixture of proprietary ingredients is such that a dog will 'hit' on this scent in the same way as an actual body in the same state. The analytical testing (noted above) is indicative of the nature and stability of the components only, and not an indication of the reliability in canine training. The Quality Control process for these products includes suitability testing with trained search and rescue dogs.

  2. How do you store the Oder Once opened? How do you deploy the order for use? I need help

    1 answer
    1. Put the liquid on a 4 × 4 inch piece of gauze or any other clean, odorless, absorbant cloth. This cloth can then be used through the course of one day. After the vial is opened, we recommends that it not be used for more than a day since it may pick up extraneous odors and confuse the dog. However, we have had reports of dogs keying on the odor after the vial has been open for several weeks.
