Gene Information

human ... BDNF(627)

General description

BDNF is a important neurotrophic factor essential for proper neuronal development and survival of various neuronal populations in the CNS and PNS. BDNF is also key for axonal growth and path finding of dendritic growth and morphology. BDNF also is key to neuronal responses and LTP or LTD and synaptic plasticity, behavior, learning and memory. BDNF is also important in neuronal disease and is being studied as potential marker in various diseases. Finally, BDNF is expressed initially as a proform protein long thought to simply be an inactive proform factor, however recent research demonstrates that proBDNF may play roles not only in neuronal development but also development in general as well as in adult metabolism in brain, muscle, and general metabolic function, so the research into BDNF is growing. BDNF is expressed developmentally in the brain and developing nervous system but it is also expressed in the adult in the brain, gut, muscle, lung, testis, prostate and placenta.

Immunogen

KLH-conjugated linear peptide corresponding to human BDNF.

Application

Anti-BDNF Antibody, clone 8G8.2 is an antibody against BDNF for use in Western Blotting.

Quality

Evaluated by Western Blotting in mouse brain membrane tissue lysate.

Western Blotting Analysis: 2.0 µg/mL of this antibody detected BDNF in 10 µg of mouse brain membrane tissue lysate.

Target description

~25 kDa observed. UnitProt describes 5 isoforms produced by alternative promoter usage and alternative splicing ranging from 27.8 to 37.1 kDa

Abnormal aggregation of tau is the pathological hallmark of tauopathies including frontotemporal dementia (FTD). We have generated tau-transgenic mice that express the aggregation-prone P301S human tau (line 66). These mice present with early-onset, high tau load in brain and FTD-like

This study aimed to determine the effects of diet-induced paternal obesity on cognitive function in mice offspring. Male mice (F0) were randomized to receive either a control diet (10 kcal% fat) or a high-fat diet (HFD; 60 kcal% fat) for

Much research has shown Bee venom to be an effective neuroprotective agent. However, the usual transdermal injection of bee venom poses many pharmacokinetic disadvantages. Here, we compared the administration of bee venom via subcutaneous injection (SC) and via Microneedle patch

It has been reported that allopregnanolone (APα) promotes the neurogenesis of the neural progenitor cells (NPCs) in the subventricular zone (SVZ) and prevents the decrease of dopaminergic neurons in 6-hydroxydopamine (6-OHDA)-treated mice by binding to γ-aminobutyric acid A receptor (GABAAR)
