Gene Information

human ... MAP3K7(6885)

General description

Transforming growth factor β (TGF-β)-activated kinase 1 (TAK1) is encoded by MAP3K7. TAK1 is a 606-residue protein, that contains a serine-threonine/tyrosine-protein kinase catalytic domain and a C-terminal coiled-coil domain. It is a member of the mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase kinase family (MAP3K). This gene is mapped to human chromosome 6q15.

Immunogen

The antiserum was produced against synthesized peptide derived from human TAK1 around the phosphorylation site of Thr184.

Immunogen Range: 161-210

Biochem/physiol Actions

Transforming growth factor β (TGF-β)-activated kinase 1 (TAK1) participates in the mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK)-p38 signaling pathway. This gene also participates in the autophagy process in retinal pigment epithelial cells. Mutations in MAP3K7 result in cardiospondylocarpofacial syndrome.
