General description

Penicillin Streptomycin solution, also known as Pen Strep, is the most commonly used antibiotic solution for the culture of mammalian cells. Penicillin Streptomycin solution is used to maintain sterile conditions during cell culture, and they show few adverse effects on the cultured cells.

Application

Penicillin-Streptomycin is used to supplement cell culture media to control bacterial contamination. It is recommended for use in cell culture applications at 10 mL/L.
Penicillin streptomycin solution has been used as a supplement in different types of media, including RGC (retinal ganglion cells) culture, α-MEM (minimum essential medium) growth medium, Dulbecco′s modified Eagle′s medium (DMEM)/nutrient mixture F-12 Ham, DMEM and DMEM/F-12 + GlutaMax.

Components

This product is formulated to contain 10,000 units penicillin and 10 mg streptomycin/mL solubilized in a proprietary citrate buffer.
