General description

Goat polyclonal anti-Mouse IgG (Fab specific) reacts with normal mouse serum, mouse IgG and the Fab fragment of mouse IgG, while no reaction is observed against the Fc fragment of mouse IgG. No reaction is observed with human IgG.
Immunoglobulin G (IgG) belongs to the immunoglobulin family and is a widely expressed serum antibody. An immunoglobulin has two heavy chains and two light chains connected by a disulfide bond. It mainly helps in immune defense. It is a glycoprotein. IgG is a major class of immunoglobulin. Mice possess five immunoglobulin classes- IgM, IgG, IgA, IgD and IgE. Mouse IgG is further divided into five classes- IgG1, IgG2a, IgG2b, IgG2c and IgG3.
Mouse IgG is a plasma B cell derived antibody isotype defined by its heavy chain. IgG is the most abundant antibody isotype found in mouse serum. IgG crosses the placental barrier, is a complement activator and binds to the Fc-receptors on phagocytic cells. The level of IgG may vary with the status of disease or infection.

Application

Anti-Mouse IgG (Fab specific) antibody produced in goat has been used in western blotting.
Goat polyclonal anti-Mouse IgG (Fab specific) may be used for the detection and quantitation of mouse IgG in serum and biological fluids. It may be used to monitor changes in IgG levels under various conditions such as infection. It may also be used when conjugated with a detector molecule as a secondary antibody.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Immunoglobulin G (IgG) participates in hypersensitivity type II and type III reactions. IgG2a has cytotropic properties and IgG2 molecules have the ability to activate the complement system. IgG helps in opsonization, complement fixation and antibody dependent cell mediated cytotoxicity.
