Application

Recommended for use as a base for the preparation of defined, fatty acid supplements. Can be loaded with up to 4 moles of fatty acids per mole of albumin.

BSA is a known fatty acid (FA) carrier. Thus in FA-related applications like cell culture, the specific BSA can be important, as related to control over specific fatty acids used to culture cell lines, because different cell lines can be variably sensitive to particular FA;s. Fatty acid-free BSA therefore is useful in cell culture work where the specific fatty acid content must be carefully controlled, so that researchers can control the specific FA′s needed for their particular cell lines. Fatty acid-free BSA also allows for optimal and maximum binding sites for the specific fatty acids that researchers wish to use in their particular cell culture experiments. Use of fatty-acid-free BSA also addresses concerns about endogenous FA′s potentially in non-fatty acid-free BSA.

Features and Benefits
