General description

Phosphoric acid (H3PO4) is also known as orthophosphoric acid. It serves as an intermediary or reagent in various manufacturing processes. Phosphoric acid is found in fertilizers, detergents, and other household cleaning products.
The product is crystalline phosphoric acid.

Application

Phosphoric acid has been employed as an oxidation reagent in a study.1 It may be used in the preparation of ammonium phosphate.
Phosphoric acid is used:
  • As a catalyst in the nucleophilic addition to imines.
  • In the synthesis of porous phosphoric acid-based geopolymers.
  • In the synthesis of mono-alkyl phosphates from simple aliphatic alcohols in the presence of acetic anhydride activator.

Other Notes

Concentrated phosphoric acid is approx. 85% H3PO4 (aqueous).

Caution

product may become solid, becomes liquid on heating to 50°C
