Application

Sodium sulfate (anhydrous) can be used as a catalyst in the synthesis of 1,3-diaryl-2-propen-1-one oxime by condensation of 1,3-diaryl-2-propen-1-one with hydroxylamine hydrochloride in ethanol.
NaSO4 can also be used as a drying agent in organic synthesis for the removal of traces of water from organic extracts. It is used for drying almost all compounds including fatty acids, aldehydes, ketones, and alkyl and aryl halogenides.
