General description

Tubulins, major components of the cellular cytoskeleton, form microtubules that are critical for cellular structure, migration, cell division, and intracellular trafficking. There are at least three types of tubulins: alpha, beta, and gamma. Each has a molecular weight of approximately 55 kDa. Microtubules are large structures (300 angstrom diameter) composed of alternating alpha and beta subunits. Compounds that block microtuble formation, such as Taxol and the vinca alkaloids, inhibit cell division and are effective anti-cancer agents. Class III β-tubulin‎ is a microtubule element expressed exclusively in neurons, and is a popular marker specific for neurons in tissue.

Specificity

Recognizes Beta III Tubulin

Immunogen

Epitope: (Similar to TuJ1 antigen)
Synthetic peptides from human/rat Beta III Tubulin.

Application

Anti-Beta III Tubulin Antibody detects level of Beta III Tubulin & has been published & validated for use in IC, IH & WB.
Immunocytochemistry:
1:1000 - 1:2000 dilution from a previous lot was used in immunocytochemistry using 2% paraformaldehyde fixed cells.

Immunohistochemistry:
1:1000 - 1:2000 dilution from a previous lot was used in immunohistochemistry using 2% paraformaldehyde fixed tissues.

Optimal working dilutions must be determined by the end user

Storage and Stability

Stable for 6 months at 2-8°C in undiluted aliquots from date of receipt.
It is recommended that the antibody be stored in the dark. During shipment, small volumes of product will occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial. For products with volumes of 200 µL or less, we recommend gently tapping the vial on a hard surface or briefly centrifuging the vial in a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container’s cap.

Analysis Note

Control
Brain tissue, Neuronal culture

Spiral ganglion neurons (SGNs) are usually damaged in sensorineural hearing loss. SGN-derived neural stem cells (NSCs) have been identified and proposed to differentiate into neurons to replace damaged SGNs. However, it remains obscure whether SGN-NSC-derived neurons (ScNs) are electrophysiologically functional
