Application

It is a potential antimicrobial agent against Campylobacter spp. from pigs[1]. It has been used to study antitrichomonad action on Tritrichomonas foetus[2]. Dimetridazole is used to study mechanisms of anti-protozoan nitroimidazole drugs.

C J Gebhart et al.
Antimicrobial agents and chemotherapy, 27(1), 55-59 (1985-01-01)
The in vitro activities of 47 antimicrobial agents against 30 isolates of Campylobacter species from pigs were determined by the agar dilution technique. The isolates were obtained from pigs with proliferative enteritis and included 10 strains each of Campylobacter coli
D G Lindmark et al.
Antimicrobial agents and chemotherapy, 10(3), 476-482 (1976-09-01)
Twelve 4- and 5-nitroimidazole derivatives, including metronidazole and two of its metabolites, tinidazole, dimetridazole, and nimorazole, were tested for antitrichomonad action on Tritrichomonas foetus (KV(1)) and Trichomonas vaginalis (ATCC 30001) for mutagenicity on a nitroreductase-positive (TA 100) and a nitroreductase-deficient
M Sánchez-Polo et al.
Water research, 43(16), 4028-4036 (2009-06-23)
The main objectives of this study were: (1) to investigate the decomposition and mineralization of nitroimidazoles (Metronidazole [MNZ], Dimetridazole [DMZ], and Tinidazole [TNZ]) in waste and drinking water using gamma irradiation; (2) to study the decomposition kinetics of these nitroimidazoles;
