Application

Lipase from Pseudomonas fluorescens has been used to study the activity of lipase in water-restricted environments [1] and has been used to study lipase inactivation [2].

Biochem/physiol Actions

Lipase is an esterase that catalyzes the hydrolysis of ester bonds of lipids. Lipases are essential for the digestion, transport and processing of lipids.

1 U corresponds to the amount of enzyme which liberates 1 μmol oleic acid per minute at pH 8.0 and 40°C (triolein, Cat. No. 62314 as substrate)
