General description

Poly(maleic anhydride-alt-1-octadecene) is a non-polar polymer.

Application

Poly(maleic anhydride-alt-1-octadecene) (PMHC18) may be used to water-solubilize nanoparticles. PMHC18 may be used to improve the pour point (PP) properties of palm oil methyl esters for its application as a vegetable oil-based biodiesel. In vivo behaviors of single-walled nanotubes (SWNTs) can be fine tuned by coating SWNTs with polyethylene glycol (PEG) grafted PMHC18 polymers.
Release coatings, anti-corrosive, thickening agent, chelant/surfactant and cross-linker for epoxy or alcohol functional polymers.

Features and Benefits

Readily derivatized to acid salt, amide, ester or imide. Alternating polymer.
