General description
LOK (lymphocyte-oriented kinase) belongs to the Ste20 (sterile 20) family of serine/threonine kinases. It is expressed in lymphocytes, brain, colon, thymus, kidney, liver, small intestine and lung. LOK is commonly referred to as STK10 (serine/threonine protein kinase 10).
Biochem/physiol Actions
Mutations in LOK (lymphocyte-oriented kinase) are linked with the anti-apoptotic effects leading to carcinogenesis. It functions as an ERM (ezrin-radixin-moesin) kinase and thereby regulates cytoskeletal organization and lymphocyte migration. It can phosphorylate PLK1 (polo-like kinase 1).
Physical form
Supplied in 50 mM Tris-HCl, pH 7.5, with 150 mM NaCl, 0.2 5mM DTT, 0.1 mM EGTA, 0.1 mM EDTA, 0.1 mM PMSF, and 25% glycerol.

ERM (ezrin-radixin-moesin) proteins mediate linkage of actin cytoskeleton to plasma membrane in many cells. ERM activity is regulated in part by phosphorylation at a C-terminal threonine, but the identity of ERM kinases is unknown in lymphocytes and incompletely defined in

Peripheral T-cell lymphoma (PTCL) is an aggressive lymphoma with a 5-year overall survival rate of <30%. To identify carcinogenesis-related genes in PTCL, we conducted high-throughput resequencing of target-captured cDNA in a PTCL specimen, revealing a total of 19 missense mutations

The Ste20 family of serine/threonine kinases plays an important role in numerous cellular functions such as growth, apoptosis, and morphogenesis. We have identified a previously cloned but uncharacterized family member termed Stk10, which is a human homolog of murine Lok

T-cell activation requires signals from both the T-cell receptor (TcR) and other co-stimulatory molecules such as CD28. TcR- and CD28-mediated signals are integrated during T-cell activation resulting in the expression of cytokine genes such as interleukin-2 (IL-2). An enhancer element
