Chromosome 7 open reading frame 49 (C7orf49) has been shown to be a regulator of retroviral infection. Studies have shown that a decrease in C7orf49 levels in cells leads to a diminished rate of infection by HIV (human immunodeficiency virus)-1 vectors.
