General description

Goat and sheep antibodies are widely used as primary antibodies against many antigens in various assay techniques in research and clinical practices. Polyclonal second antibodies to goat and sheep may suffer from a lack of unique specificity to goat or sheep IgGs, and may cross react with other IgGs from human, mouse, rat or rabbit origin. As a result, an extensive adsorbing stage has to be integrated in the manufacturing process of most polyclonal antibodies. The use of a monoclonal antibody specific to goat or sheep IgG which is devoid of any binding capacity to human and many other species, can therefore serve as an essential tool and a useful control in many tests and applications.
Monoclonal Anti-Goat/sheep IgG (mouse IgG1 isotype) is derived from the GT-34 hybridoma, produced by the fusion of mouse myeloma cells and splenocytes from a mouse immunized with purified goat immunoglobulins (IgGs). Immunoglobulin G (IgG) belongs to the immunoglobulin family and is a widely expressed serum antibody. An immunoglobulin has two heavy chain and two light chain connected by disulfide bond. It mainly helps in immune defense. It is a glycoprotein. IgG is a major class of immunoglobulin. Goat IgG has two subclasses- IgG1 and IgG2.

Specificity

Monoclonal Anti-Goat/sheep recognizes an epitope located on the heavy chain of goat IgG1 and IgG2. The antibody shows strong cross-reactivity with sheep IgG and weak cross-reactivity with bovine IgG. No cross-reactivity is observed with IgG derived from human, monkey, guinea pig, rat, horse, fish, donkey, dog, chicken, pig, mouse, rabbit or cat origin. The antibody is recommended to use in various immunological techniques, including ELISA, Immunoblotting, immunofluorescence and Immunohistochemistry.

Immunogen

purified goat immunoglobulins (IgGs).

Biochem/physiol Actions

Immunoglobulin G (IgG) participates in hypersensitivity type II and type III.

Physical form

Supplied as a solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide as a preservative.
