General description

The CpGenome Rat Methylated and Unmethylated Genomic DNA Standard Set contains one vial of unmethylated DNA and one vial of methylated DNA generated from the same genomic DNA source.

The CpGenome Rat Unmethylated Genomic DNA Standard is generated using multiple strand displacement amplification of rat genomic DNA using Phi29 DNA polymerase. This process results in a DNA standard which contains ≥ 95% unmethylated cytosines across the genome in both heterochromatic and euchromatic regions.

The CpGenome Rat Methylated Genomic DNA Standard is generated using multiple strand displacement amplification of rat genomic DNA using Phi29 DNA polymerase followed by a treatment with a CpG Methylase. This process results in a DNA standard which contains ≥ 95% methylated cytosines across the genome in both heterochromatic and euchromatic regions.

Application

Research Category
Epigenetics & Nuclear Function
Useful as a control or standard for variety of epigenomic assays such as methylated or unmethylated DNA enrichment, bisulfite conversion or melt curve analysis to determine the status of global or locus- specific DNA methylation.

Quality

Quantitative Methylation Specific PCR (qMSP):
Bisulfite converted unmethylated and methylated rat genomic DNA are assessed for methylation status at various loci within the genome.

Physical form

5 µg DNA in buffer containing 10mM Tris-HCl pH 8.0, 0.1mM EDTA

Storage and Stability

Upon receipt aliqout and store at -20°C to avoid multiple freeze thaws which can fragment DNA. For best quality, limit freeze and thaw of the same –20°C DNA aliquot to no more than 3 times. For longer term storage, the DNA can be stored at -80°C. With proper storage and protection from excess freeze-thaw cycles, this product is stable for up to two years from the date of receipt.
