General description
Method: Colorimetric, with test strips, 2 - 5 - 10 - 20 - 40 - 80 mg/L (NO2-), MQuant®
Nitrite is a pollution indicator. Therefore there are interesting application possibilities in the analysis of drinking water, waste water, industrial water and aquarium water. In food analysis, the determination of nitrite in meat products, pickling solutions, brine and deep frozen spinach is particularly important. On the MQuant® Nitrite test strips, nitrite ions react with an aromatic amine to form a diazonium salt, which in turn reacts with N-(1-naphthyl)ethylenediamine to form a red-violet azo dye. The nitrite concentration is measured semi-quantitatively by visual comparison of the reaction zone of the test strip with the fields of a color scale. The test strips are perfect for pre-testing a sample in an economic and quick way to estimate the nitrite concentration and a possible dilution factor prior to using a quantitative method such as a Reflectoquant® or Spectroquant® Nitrite test.
Design for sustainability benefits:
We continue to demonstrate our commitment to our planet and a sustainable future by exploring ways to improve existing products in our portfolio. We have recently reviewed the current line of MQuant® test strips to identify key opportunities to minimize impact without compromising on the product performance.
This product has benefited from:
