General description

Barium carbonate (BaCO3) is an important alkaline-earth metal material in the production of barium salts, barium ferrite, pigments, ceramics, optical glass, and electric condensers. Additionally, it serves as a precursor to produce superconductors and ceramic materials.

Application

Barium carbonate is used:
  • In the preparation of barium titanate using a mixture of BaCO3 and titania (TiO2) by solid-state reaction.
  • As an additive in the preparation of NBC (neodymium – barium –copper) ceramics.
