General description

Doxepin is a tricyclic antidepressant used for the treatment of sleep maintenance and sold under trade names such as Silenor® and Aponal. This analytical reference standard is appropriate for use as starting material in calibrators or controls for numerous LC/MS or GC/MS applications such as forensic analysis, clinical toxicology, urine drug testing, or pharmaceutical research.

Application

  • Magnetic Particle Spray Mass Spectrometry: This study utilizes advanced analytical techniques, potentially incorporating Doxepin hydrochloride as a standard in mass spectrometry, to improve detection sensitivities for antidepressants and other neuropharmacological agents (Venga Mendes and Figueiredo, 2024).

  • Desipramine induces anti-inflammatory dorsal root ganglion transcriptional signatures: Though primarily about desipramine, the methodologies and findings could be paralleled in studies using Doxepin hydrochloride to understand its effects on neuroinflammation and pain management (Serafini et al., 2024).

  • Effect of lipid emulsion on neuropsychiatric drug-induced toxicity: Reviews the mitigation of toxicity from drugs like Doxepin hydrochloride, underscoring the importance of lipid emulsions in treating drug overdoses and adverse effects (Hwang and Sohn, 2024).

  • Novel Ti surface coated with PVA hydrogel and chitosan nanoparticles with antibacterial drug release: While focused on surface coatings, the methodology could be adapted for controlled release studies of tricyclic antidepressants like Doxepin hydrochloride in biomedical applications (Carrazco Ávila et al., 2024).

  • Doxepin is more effective than zolpidem in improving executive function in patients with insomnia disorder: This clinical study on Doxepin could relate directly to Doxepin hydrochloride′s use in sleep medicine and psychiatric research, illustrating its efficacy and therapeutic potential (Yu et al., 2023).
