General description
大腸菌（E.coli）は、胞子を形成しない、グラム陰性の桿体形の通性嫌気性菌であり、ヒトの消化管にみられます。腸内細菌の科に属します。E.coliは化学有機栄養性であり、37°Cで増殖します。 病原性E.coli株は、下痢、敗血症、髄膜炎および尿路感染症に関連しています。有害菌による腸のコロニー形成を阻害します。E.coliは糞便混入の指標としての役割を果たします。
