General description

補体C6は、5種類の補体カスケードタンパク質の1つであり、溶菌作用を有する終末補体複合体に入ります。補体C6は、全56個のシステイン残基などC7と33%以上相同で、C6とC7はLDL受容体クラスAおよびBモジュール配列、C末端のトロンボスポンジンタイプIモジュール、2個のショートコンセンサスリピートモジュールを共有します。

成熟補体は913アミノ酸残基からなり、21残基のシグナル配列が先行します。

Application

Complement C6 is one of the end terminals of the complement system contained in the membrane attack complex (MAC). It has been shown that complement C6 and the MAC are crucial for the development of arthritis in osteoarthritis and gouty arthritis. This could serve as a therapeutic target area for suppression of joint inflammation.
