General description
アルドステロンは、塩分、カリウム、血圧、酸塩基平衡の多因子調節において重要な役割を果たしています。また、胎児の発達中に母体の体積を拡大して胎児灌流を促進し、胎盤成長因子の発現増加に寄与している可能性があります。アルドステロンの主な作用は腎臓に関連していますが、アルドステロンは、消化管、呼吸器上皮、心筋、血管平滑筋などの他の組織のミネラルコルチコイド受容体とも相互作用します。アルドステロン拮抗薬またはミネラルコルチコイド受容体拮抗薬（MRA）は、原発性アルドステロン症（PA）、原発性および難治性高血圧、心不全（HF）、慢性腎臓病（CKD）など、さまざまな臨床症状の患者に有益です。
Application
アルドステロンは以下の用途に用いられています：
- 肥満関連腎症（ORG）においてその病原性を試験するための有足細胞培養に用いるRPMI-1640培地の添加物として
- 塩と組み合わせて、マウスで腎損傷を誘発するため
- 主要な肝類洞内皮細胞（LSEC）を刺激するため、およびマウスで高アルドステロン症モデルを作成するため
アルドステロンのd-異性体は、生理活性を有する異性体であるとされています。
Biochem/physiol Actions
アルドステロンは、生物学的に活性なアルドステロン異性体で、副腎皮質が産生するミネラルコルチコイドです。アルドステロンは、尿中のK+排泄および腎臓のNa+吸収を誘発します。副腎皮質刺激ホルモン（ACTH）によって産生されるアルドステロンは、遠位尿細管のナトリウム恒常性の維持に不可欠です。アルドステロンはミネラルコルチコイド受容体と結合し、脈管系を調節して腎障害を誘発し、慢性腎疾患（CKD）の進行に関与します。アルドステロンは、レニン-アンジオテンシン-アルドステロン系（RAAS）の一部です。
